NFC Setup & Troubleshooting Guide

First-time activation

Your Tapn.vip card, bracelet, or tag arrives ready to use — there is nothing to charge, pair, or install. Create your free account, build your Digital Passport profile, and your hardware immediately shares it. Want the tag to point somewhere else? Open the Dashboard, choose your profile, and tap "Write NFC" to program the tag in about two seconds using Chrome on Android.

Tapping on iPhone

iPhone XS and newer read NFC automatically in the background — no settings to change. Hold the top edge of the iPhone (near the camera) flat against the card for one second until the notification banner appears, then tap the banner to open the profile. If nothing happens: make sure the phone is unlocked and not in camera mode, and remove thick metal cases, which block the NFC antenna.

Tapping on Android

Android phones read NFC with the center of the back of the device. If a tap does nothing, open Settings → search "NFC" → toggle it on (most Samsung, Pixel, and Motorola phones ship with it enabled). Writing tags requires Chrome on Android — iPhones can read every written tag but cannot write from the browser.

Common questions

Does the other person need an app? No. The tap opens your profile in their normal browser — nothing to download, no account needed on their side.

How do I update my link? Edit your profile in the Dashboard. Every card you own updates instantly because the tag points to your dynamic profile URL — you never rewrite the hardware.

Is my data secure? Traffic is HTTPS-only with HSTS enforced, your account supports passkey/biometric sign-in, and lost hardware can be frozen instantly from "My Connected Devices" in your Dashboard.

My tag reads on some phones but not others. Check case thickness, tap position (top edge on iPhone, center-back on Android), and that NFC is toggled on. Very old devices (pre-2018) may lack NFC — the printed QR code on Tapn.vip cards covers them.
